HO Scale Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus Cage Wagon No. 24 |
|
This HO Scale 3 bay cage wagon kit is available now! The Hagenbeck-Walace Circus was noted for the massive construction used in their wagons This cage is a good example. Showgrounds for a traveling circus were not always grass covered and dry. Frequently the show had to battle a muddy lot or a sandy field. Under these circumstances up to 30 to 40 draft horses were required to move the wagon onto the street. The vehicles all had to hold together under such stress and strain. Every cage wagon was equipped with side panels so on inclement days the animals within could be protected from the elements. Rather than just attach plain panels the circuses geneerally used that space to let the public know the name of the circus and also advertise the animal act. Cage 24 is an example of this showmanship. This cage wagon has been located at Circus World Museum in Baraboo, WI since 1965.
